Sometimes we get so used to the way things are that we take them for granted.
At a conference recently, I asked a half dozen practicing condominium lawyers if they knew how much tax HOAs pay on reserve fund interest. None of them did.
The answer, as CondoWonk readers know, is 30%, an astonishing rate that has been in place for 46 years. We are working on changing it.
Here’s another challenge. What if we could change state law to stop punishing HOAs and instead incentivize midlife condominiums to remedy deferred maintenance?
The latest installment of CondoWonk proposes the radically simple Vintage Condominium Act. I’d love to hear what you think.
Best wishes,
Doris Goldstein (aka the Condo Wonk)
